Kristi Yamaguchi teams up with Tom’s of Maine for children’s dental health

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and Kristi Yamaguchi is teaming up with Tom’s of Maine in a creative effort to bring dental health to children in need. The “Be a Tooth Fairy Hero” sweepstakes kicks off January 2, 2013 and ends March 15, 2013

Here is the whole article:

The sweepstakes invites children ages three to 10 to pull out their crayons and creativity to illustrate a drawing portraying what they imagine the Tooth Fairy to look like. A downloadable coloring sheet is also available for added inspiration.

10 drawings will be chosen at random and the winners will receive a $10,000 donation to a local dental clinic as part of the Tom’s of Maine Dental Health for All initiative. In addition, the winners will receive toothpaste for the children in their school courtesy of Tom’s.

Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi helped to jump start the sweepstakes with the help of her two daughters, nine-year-old Keara and seven-year-old Emma. The girls drew their own pictures to enter into the sweepstakes, which can be seen in the slideshow.

Kristi is no newcomer to healthy smiles or giving back to the community. The daughter of a dentist, she knows the importance of good dental care. In addition, she also founded the Always Dream Foundation in 1992, which aims to improve the lives of children through both educational and recreational means.

On her website, she expresses her heart for giving back.

“All the athletic glory and honors are wonderful but sometimes I come face to face with a disadvantaged child or with a struggling mother or father and I am grateful for my gifts. And I rededicate myself to doing whatever I can to help someone in need.”

Kudos to Kristi Yamaguchi and Tom’s of Maine for their efforts in giving back to the community and creating healthier smiles for children across the country.
